OUR SERVICES

Language University allows parents or guardians or an educational institution to enroll children into Language University, an online foreign language speech program that introduces children to Spanish, French, Italian, and Mandarin (the “Services”).

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Through your use of our Services, we collect personal information, which is information that individually identifies you. We collect personal information when we provide a service to an educational institution, when a parent or guardian enrolls in the Services, as child participates in the Services, and automatically from users of our Website.

A.    Information Collected From Educational Institutions  

The child’s educational institution is responsible for compliance with all applicable data protection laws including with respect to providing notice and acquiring consent from the child’s parent or guardian for the collection and use of the Services and personal information as part of it. The only personal information Language Universal may collect from students participating in the Services through educational institutions is their age group.

When an educational institution purchases the Services, Language Universal will collect the following information from the educational institution: name of contact, email address of contact, telephone number of contact, and billing address. All payments are handled through Language Universal’s third-party payment processors, PayPal, Stripe, or QuickBooks. The information provided to a third-party payment processor is subject to their privacy notice. When you make a payment through one of our third-party payment processors, we will receive the last four digits of your payment card information. We use this personal information to facilitate your purchase and to provide the Services. We may Language Universal may also use the personal information described above to prevent harm, to efficiently maintain our business, to comply with legal obligations, and for additional limited circumstances as described in HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION.

B.    Information Collected From Parents or Guardians

We collect personal information from parents or guardians directly as they use our Services. Specifically, we will collect personal information directly from parents or guardians when they:

§  Register for Language University. If you enroll your child in Language University classes, we will collect your name and email address. We will also collect your child’s name, age, and school. We use this information to process your registration and to communicate with you about the selected Language University class. We will also use the provided email address to send you our newsletter. You may opt-out of these communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link within each email.  

§  Make a payment. To collect payment for Language University, we will send you a PayPal invoice. You also have the option to pay for Language University directly on our Website through our third-party payment processors, Stripe or QuickBooks. The information you provide to our third-party payment processor is subject to its privacy notice. When you make a payment through our third-party payment processor, we will receive the last four digits of your payment card number. We use this personal information to facilitate your purchase.

§  Contact us. If you contact Language Universal or send us any feedback, comments, or questions, you will provide us with your name and email address. Language Universal uses this personal information to respond to your questions or inquires, troubleshoot where necessary, and address any issues you have with the Services.

Language Universal may also use the personal information described above to prevent harm, to efficiently maintain our business, to comply with legal obligations, and for additional limited circumstances as described in HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION.

C.    Information Collect on Children

Language Universal collects information about children directly from the child’s parent or guardian or through their educational institution. This information include name and date of birth. In addition, children may share information about themselves during Language University classes. Since Language University classes may take place over online videos, images and audio of children may also be collected with your consent. We use this personal information to provide Language University to your child. We  will not require more information on your child than when is reasonably necessary to participate in Language University and will only retain your child’s information only for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected.

Language Universal may use your child’s personal information to prevent harm, to efficiently maintain our business, to comply with legal obligations, and for additional limited circumstances as described in HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION.

D.    Information Collected Automatically From Website Visitors

Language Universal also collects information automatically from visitors of our Website. Our Website employs cookies and other tracking technologies. These cookies collect information regarding your interaction with our Website, IP address, and device information. We use this information to prevent fraudulent use of the Website, to enable the Website to function properly, to provide enhanced functionality, diagnose server errors, and in cases of abuse, mitigate and track the abuse. To disable cookies and limit the collection and use of information through them, you can set your browser to refuse cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent. When you opt-out, and opt-out cookie will be placed on your device. The opt-out cookie is browser and device specific and will only last until cookies are cleared from your browser or device.

Our Website also employs DoubleClick by Google. We utilize DoubleClick by Google to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visit to our Website. Each visitor to our Website receives a different cookie and the information collected by the cookie is used to generate conversion statistics and allows us to see the total number of individuals who clicked on our ads. The DoubleClick cookie is used by Google in the ads served on the websites of its partners, such as websites participating in Google certified ad networks. DoubleClick enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Website and other websites on the Internet. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

Language Universal may share personal information for the following purposes:

§  With service providers. We may share personal information with our service providers to perform functions on our behalf and to help us administer the Services. These service providers include our payment processors, website hosting provider, and shipping carriers. We only share personal information of children with our website hosting provider, Squarespace.

§  Within Language Universal. Where necessary, we may share personal information within Language Universal as appropriate to provide our Services, to efficiently maintain our business, and to the extent permitted by law. 

§  In the event of a corporate reorganization. In the event that we enter into, or intend to enter into, a transaction that alters the structure of our business, such as a reorganization, merger, acquisition, sale, joint venture, assignment, consolidation, transfer, change of control, or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or stock, we would share personal information with third parties, including the buyer or target (and their agents and advisors) for the purpose of facilitating and completing the transaction. We would also share personal information with third parties if we undergo bankruptcy or liquidation, in the course of such proceedings.

§  For legal purposes. We will share personal information where we are legally required to do so, such as in response to court orders, law enforcement or legal process, including for national security purposes; to establish, protect, or exercise our legal rights, as required to enforce our terms of service or other contracts; to defend against legal claims or demands; to detect, investigate, prevent, or take action against illegal activities, fraud, or situations involving potential threats to the rights, property, or personal safety of any person; or to comply with the requirements of any applicable law.

INFORMATION CHOICES  

§  Parental choices and controls. At any time, parents or guardians have the right to prohibit further collection or use of your child’s personal information in association with the Services, the right to direct us to delete your child’s personal information from our records, and the right to review your child’s personal information. You can contact Language Universal at teamlu@languageuniv.com to request to delete, review, or prohibit further collection or use of your child’s personal information. Parents or guardians may consent to the collection and use of their child’s personal information without consenting to the disclosure of personal information to third parties, other than as necessary for the Services.

For parents or guardians of children that participate in the Services through their educational institution, please contact your child’s educational institution for guidance on how you control the information provided to Language Universal. 

§  Educational institution choices and controls.  Educational institutions can review or change the information provided to Language Universal for the Services by contacting us at TeamLU@languageuniv.com.  

§  Marketing emails. You may opt-out of receiving marketing emails from us by clicking the “unsubscribe” link provided with each email. Please note that we will continue to send you notifications necessary to Services, your purchase, and any assistance you request.

DO NOT TRACK DISCLOSURE

We do not support Do Not Track (DNT). Do Not Track is a preference you can set in your web browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked. You can enable or disable Do Not Track by visiting the Preferences or Settings page of your browser.

INFORMATION SECURITY

We implement and maintain reasonable security measures to protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the personal information we collect. However, no security measure or modality of data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure and we are unable to guarantee the absolute security of the personal information we have collected from you. 

AGE RESTRICTIONS

The Website is not intended for individuals under the age of eighteen (18).
